What is the deal with CreateSpace?
CreateSpace is a publishing company owned by Amazon.com which has allowed me to save my customers a few dollars. The books are the same size as my previous publisher though without the nice covers. iUniverse owns the rights and I don't have $750 x 10 to purchase them. So the CreateSpace covers are text but look pretty sharp. Each series has its own unique look:
The Morcyth Saga
The Broken Key
Qyaendri Adventures
These books will also be available in the near future on Amazon.com. The links for those are denoted as Amazon.com(ONLY). The discount code does not work on Amazon.com, only through the CreateSpace eStore. For those who have noticed the Mobipocket eBook format has the same cover, you are correct.
One of the overriding reasons I made my books available through CreateSpace was the way iUniverse priced my books from $18.95 all the way to $25.95. I searched for some time to find a way to make each book priced the same, and much more economical. With CreateSpace, I've been able to accomplish both my objectives.
The only real drawback to CreateSpace, is that it is of little use to my international readers as it is only available here domestically. (I am currently checking into Lightning Source as a viable solution for those outside the US) Those abroad can order the books through CreateSpace, but will be faced with international shipping charges. It is my hope that CreateSpace will prove successful for Amazon.com so they will be inclined to incorporate it on all their sites worldwide.
